Department of Energy Nomination of Leslie J. Goldman To Be an Assistant Secretary.

The President today announced that he will nominate Leslie J. Goldman, of Des Plaines, Ill., to be an Assistant Secretary of Energy. He would replace Harry Bergold, resigned, and his area of responsibility would be international affairs.

Goldman has been principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Energy for International Affairs since earlier this year.

He was born April 22, 1945, in Chicago, Ill. He received a B.A. from the University of Michigan in 1967 and an LL.B. from the University of Michigan Law School in 1970.

From 1970 to 1977, Goldman was special counsel to Senator Adlai E. Stevenson. In 1977 he served as counsel to Special Assistant to the President James R. Schlesinger, then as Assistant Administrator for Energy Resource Development at the Federal Energy Administration. From October 1977 to September 1979, he was principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Energy for Policy and Evaluation.
