Department of the Air Force Nomination of Joseph Charles Zengerle III To Be an Assistant Secretary.

The President today announced that he will nominate Joseph Charles Zengerle III, of Washington, D.C., to be an Assistant Secretary of the Air Force. He would replace Antonia Handler Chayes, who has been appointed Under Secretary of the Air Force, and his area of responsibility would be manpower, reserve affairs, and installations.

Zengerle has been with the Washington law firm of Shea & Gardner since 1974.

He was born August 16, 1942, in Jamaica, N.Y. He received a B.S. from the U.S. Military Academy in 1964 and a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School in 1971.

In 1972 Zengerle was an associate with the Washington firm of Arnold & Porter. In 1972 and 1973, he was law clerk to Judge Carl McGowan of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, and in 1973 and 1974, he was law clerk to Chief Justice Warren Burger of the U.S. Supreme Court.
