The President today announced that he will nominate Robert Krueger, of New Braunfels, Tex., to be Ambassador at Large and Coordinator for Mexican Affairs. Krueger is a former U.S. Representative from the 21 st District of Texas.
He was born September 19, 1935, in New Braunfels, Tex. He received a B.S. from Southern Methodist University in 1957, an M.A. from Duke University in 1958, and a B. Litt. (1963) and D. Phil. (1965) from Oxford University.
From 1961 to 1973, Krueger was a professor and dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Duke University. From 1973 to 1975, he was chairman of the board of Comal Hosiery Mills. From 1975 to 1979, he was U.S. Representative from the 21st District. Since leaving the Congress, he has been a businessman and rancher in New Braunfels.
