Appointment of Charles M. Kupperman as Special Assistant to the President and Deputy Director of the Office of Administration

The President today announced the appointment of Dr. Charles M. Kupperman to be Special Assistant to the President and Deputy Director of the Office of Administration.

Dr. Kupperman was formerly the Executive Assistant to the Director of the Office of Personnel Management. Previously Dr. Kupperman was the Executive Assistant to the Acting Administrator of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration and the Executive Director of the General Advisory Committee of the U.S. Arms Control and Disarmament Agency. Prior to joining the Reagan administration, Dr. Kupperman served in the 1980 Reagan-Bush campaign as a defense adviser. From 1978 to 1980, he was the senior defense analyst for the Committee on the Present Danger.

Dr. Kupperman graduated from Purdue University (B.A., 1972), the University of British Columbia (M.A., 1973), and the University of Southern California (Ph.D., 1980). He is married and has two children.
