Appointment of Olin L. Wethington as Special Assistant to the President and Executive Secretary of the Economic Policy Council

The President today announced the appointment of Olin L. Wethington as Special Assistant to the President and Executive Secretary of the Economic Policy Council.

Mr. Wethington has served as a partner in the law firm of Steptoe and Johnson in Washington, DC. Prior to this he served as Deputy Under Secretary for International Trade at the Department of Commerce, 1983 - 1985. During the 1988 election campaign, Mr. Wethington was an active participant in the President's international economic issues group.

Mr. Wethington graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and received his J.D. degree from Harvard Law School. He was born November 17, 1948, in Durham, NC. Mr. Wethington is married to the former Nadine Barbara Peiffer, has three children, and resides in McLean, VA.
