Appointment of Rhett B. Dawson as Assistant to the President for Operations

The President today announced the appointment of Rhett B. Dawson as Assistant to the President for Operations. Mr. Dawson will manage the Office of the Staff Secretary, the Office of Administration, and the Military Office.

Mr. Dawson served as Director of the President's Special Review Board that examined the Iran-contra matter and was Director of the President's Blue Ribbon Commission on Defense Management. He also served on three congressional committees. Mr. Dawson graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University (B.A., 1966) and the Washington School of Law (J.D., 1969). Mr. Dawson is married and has one daughter. He was born in Canton, IL, on December 9, 1943.
