The President today announced the appointment of Marilyn W. Black as a member of the Commission on Presidential Scholars.
Under the law governing this Commission, the person chosen each year as National Teacher of the Year shall serve on the Commission. Ms. Black has been chosen 1979 National Teacher of the Year. She teaches art and kindergarten in Hanover, N.H.
Note: On the same day, the President presented the Teacher of the Year Award to Ms. Black in a ceremony in the Cabinet Room at the White House.
