Department of Justice Nomination of John H. Shenefield To Be Associate Attorney General.
The President today announced that he will nominate John H. Shenefield, of Arlington, Va., to be Associate Attorney General. He would replace Michael J. Egan, resigned. Shenefield has been Assistant Attorney General for the Antitrust Division since 1977.
He was born January 23, 1939, in Toledo, Ohio. He received an A.B. from Harvard University in 1960 and an LL.B. from Harvard Law School in 1965. He served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1962.
From 1965 to 1977, Shenefield was with the Richmond, Va., firm of Hunton and Williams. He was Deputy Assistant Attorney General early in 1977 and has been Assistant Attorney General since September 1977.
