Department of Transportation Nomination of William B. Johnston To Be an Assistant Secretary.
The President today announced that he will nominate William B. Johnston, of Clifton, Va., to be an Assistant Secretary of Transportation. He would replace Chester Davenport, who has resigned.
Johnston has been Associate Director of the White House Domestic Policy Staff since 1977.
He was born August 25, 1945, in Washington, D.C. He received a B.A. from Yale University in 1967.
From 1973 to 1975, Johnston was a consultant to the Ford Foundation, and from 1975 to 1976, he was a consultant to the Labor Department.
From 1972 to 1976, Johnston was a research associate at the Center for Social Policy Studies. In 1976 he was on the national issues staff of the Carter Presidential campaign and worked on the Carter transition team.
