DES MOINES, IA - After an action-packed Friday and Saturday, Ron DeSantis today continued his latest swing through Iowa as a special guest of Never Back Down. DeSantis Sunday notched his 98th, giving him only one more county to go before he completes the "Full Grassley." Sunday's events came after Ron and Casey DeSantis participated in a fireside chat at the pro-life Pulse 'It's a Wonderful Life' Christmas Gala. Watch his remarks here.
DeSantis started off the morning with a live TV hit on CNN's State of the Union with Jake Tapper. Watch the full interview here.
Then, he headed to Chicksaw County for church at The Little Brown Church in the Vale.
The family got to ring the church bell!
Afterward, the DeSantis family stopped at Atomic Pizza Pub in Howard County for some lunch, where they met up with Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds, who travelled with them the rest of the day.
Then, DeSantis visited VFW Post 7920 in Mitchell County. At this stop, an Iowa caucus-goer named Karen Hahn-Brown explained why she switched from supporting Trump to DeSantis:
"Until this morning, I was going to support President Trump in the election. But after listening to Ron DeSantis, I have changed my mind. I believe he can get more done in office than President Trump could."
Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds explained why America needs DeSantis as a two-term President:
"If he can do for this country what he did for Florida in four years, not only will we get this country back on track, but we'll have the opportunity to get him for eight years. It is about the future. It is not about four years. It is about eight years and what we can actually accomplish under his leadership."
County #97 was Floyd County, where DeSantis held a meet and greet at Pub on the Cedar in Charles City. Robert Kraft from Nashua, Iowa attended the event. He said he originally supported Trump, but flipped to support DeSantis after hearing him speak.
The last stop of the day (County #98) was at MBS Family Farms in Butler County.
