DeSantis Campaign Press Release - Nikki Haley Swings and Misses Again with Third Failed Cleanup Attempt on Her Position to Censor Americans on Social Media
DES MOINES, IA - After her attempts last night and this morning failed to quell the backlash for her remarks calling for the government to censor the First Amendment rights of anonymous social media users, Nikki Haley swung and missed again today.
Haley's team told Real Clear Politics, "Americans have a right a right to free speech, including anonymous twitter accounts." The problem for Haley is that is the exact opposite of the position she took yesterday when she said, "every person on social media should be verified by their name."
In response to this, DeSantis Campaign Press Secretary Bryan Griffin said the following:
"Once again, Nikki Haley admits she's out of touch on a key issue and then runs for cover when the heat gets turned up on her. But it's no wonder she's running from this one. This idea harkens back to the 'Russian disinformation' charade pushed by the DC establishment and corporate media as a pretext for censoring dissent. And it would lay the groundwork for CCP-style, dangerous government overreach like social credit scores.
No matter how she tries to spin it, Haley can't take back her "Day One" plan to have the government strip Americans of their First Amendment rights, just like she can't take back her record of rolling out the red carpet for China, refusing to block men from using women's bathrooms, pushing a gas tax, and siding with BLM rioters."
