Exchange of Messages With President Wilhelm Miklas on the Inauguration of Radiotelegraphic Service Between Austria and the United States.

April 22, 1931

THE LINKING of the various countries of the world by rapid communications is a means for the enhancing of closer friendly relations, and the importance of which our peoples realize more and more as advances are made. It therefore gives me great pleasure to be able to inaugurate with you this new direct radio telegraph service between Austria and the United States.

HERBERT HOOVER

Note: President Miklas' message follows:

On the occasion of the opening of direct radiotelegraphic communication between the two countries, I have the honor to send you my best greetings, and to express the wish that this new channel of communication may contribute to extend and deepen relations between the United States of America and Austria.
MIKLAS
