Executive Order 5043—Authorizing the Appointment of Marion Hayes McCarthy Without Regard to Civil Service Rules

Mrs. Marion Hayes McCarthy, whose husband, Master-Sergeant Joseph B. McCarthy, Air Corps, lost his life in an airplane accident on January 11, 1929, in the line of duty, may be appointed as telephone operator under the War Department without reference to the civil service rules.
This Order is recommended by the Secretary of War. The Civil Service Commission submits the case without prejudice.
