It is hereby ordered that the lands of the United States, embraced in the former Fort Keogh Military Reservation in the State of Montana, which were transferred to the Department of Agriculture by the Act approved April 15, 1924 (43 Stat. 99), for use in experiments in stock raising and the growing of forage crops in connection therewith, situated within the area segregated by the broken line upon the diagram hereto attached and made a part of this order, be and the same are hereby reserved and set apart for the further use of the Department of Agriculture as a preserve and breeding ground for native birds, subject to the primary uses by the Department in accordance with the said Act of April 15, 1924, and to other valid existing rights, if any.
It is unlawful within this reservation, (a) wilfully to set on fire or cause to be set on fire any timber, underbrush, grass or other natural growth; (b) wilfully to leave or suffer fire to burn unattended near any timber or other inflammable material; (c) after building a fire in or near any forest, timber, or other inflammable material, to leave it without totally extinguishing it; (d) to hunt, trap, capture, wilfully disturb, or kill any wild animal or bird of any kind whatever, or take or destroy the eggs of any wild bird except under such rules and regulations as may be prescribed by the Secretary of Agriculture; and (e) wilfully to injure, molest, or destroy any property of the United States.
Warning is expressly given to all persons not to commit any of the acts herein enumerated under the penalties prescribed by Sections 52, 53, and 84 as amended April 15, 1924, of the United States Penal Code, or by the Act of February 18, 1929 (Public No. 770—70th Congress).
This refuge shall be known as the Fort Keogh Bird Refuge.
