Executive Order 6649—Waiver of Civil-Service Rule II to Permit the Appointment of Mrs. Elizabeth Bass in the Treasury Department

March 23, 1934

By virtue of and pursuant to the authority vested in me by the provisions of the last sentence of the eighth paragraph of subdivision second of section 2 of the Civil Service Act of January 16, 1883 (ch. 27, 22 Stat. 403, 404), it is hereby ordered that Mrs. Elizabeth Bass may be appointed as district supervisor, Bureau of Narcotics, Treasury Department, without compliance with the requirements of civil-service rule II.

This order is recommended by the Secretary of the Treasury, who states that Mrs. Bass has been serving temporarily as district supervisor, with the approval of the Civil Service Commission, since July 31, 1933, and that her permanent appointment will be in the interest of the service.
