Executive Order 6937—Authorization to Appoint Mrs. Anna E. McGurty

By virtue of the authority vested in me by the provisions of the last sentence of the eighth paragraph of subdivision second of section 2 of the Civil Service Act of January 16, 1883 (ch. 27, 22 Stat. 403, 404), it is hereby ordered that Mrs. Anna E. McGurty may be appointed as clerk in the New York, New York, Post Office without compliance with the requirements of the civil-service rules.

Mrs. McGurty is the widow of Peter A. McGurty, who died October 19, 1933, after more than 36 years' employment in the Postal Service. She is without adequate means of support.

This order is recommended by the Postmaster General.
