Executive Order 7199—Designation of John Monroe Johnson as Acting Secretary of Commerce Under Certain Conditions

September 26, 1935

By virtue of and pursuant to the authority vested in me by section 179 of the Revised Statutes (U.S.C., title 5, sec. 6), I hereby authorize and direct John Monroe Johnson, Assistant Secretary of Commerce appointed under section 8 of the act of May 30, 1926 (44 Stat. 568, 573), to perform the duties of the Secretary during the absence of the Secretary of Commerce and the Assistant Secretary of Commerce appointed under the act of February 14, 1903 (32 Stat. 825), as amended by the act of March 4, 1913 (37 Stat. 736).
