Executive Order 7231—Authorizing the Appointment of William J. Shaw to the Position of Inspector of Customs without Regard to Civil-Service Rules

November 20, 1935

By virtue of and pursuant to the authority vested in me by the provisions of paragraph Eighth of subdivision SECOND of section 2 of the Civil Service Act of January 16, 1883 (22 Stat. 403, 404), it is hereby ordered that William J. Shaw may be appointed an inspector in the Customs Service of the Treasury Department at San Francisco, California, without compliance with the requirements of the civil-service rules.
