Executive Order 9515—Amendment of Rule 54 of Executive Order No. 4314 of September 25, 1925, Establishing Rules Governing Navigation of the Panama Canal and Adjacent Waters
By virtue of the authority vested in me by section 9 of title 2 of the Canal Zone Code, approved June 19, 1934, Rule 54 of Executive Order No. 4314 of September 25, 1925, establishing rules governing the navigation of the Panama Canal and adjacent waters, as amended by Executive Order No. 6128 of May 10, 1933 (35 CFR 4.60), is hereby further amended to read as follows:
"Rule 54. Maximum speeds of vessels: Vessels in Canal Zone waters shall not exceed the speeds designated below:

| Gatun Lake In the 1,000-foot channels | 15 |
| Gatun Lake In the 800-foot channels | 12 |
| Gatun Lake In the 600-foot channels | 10 |
| Rounding Bohlo or Darien bend | 10 |
| Gaillard Cut—In the straight reaches: | |
| Vessels under 250 feet In length | 8 |
| Vessels 250 feet or over In length (or as near thereto as possible while maintaining steerage way) | 6 |
| In or near a lock | 2 |
| Miraflores Locks to Buoy 14 | 6 |
| Buoy 14 to Pacific Entrance | 10 |
| Miraflores Lake | |
| Vessels under 300 feet in length | 6 |
| Vessels 300 feet or over in length shall proceed as slowly as possible consistent with maneuverability." |
