FLOTUS Pool - Departure for Paris

First Lady Jill Biden exited her SUV at 9:40 pmand climbed up the steps to Executive Foxtrot One. She was followed by Ashley Biden, and grandchildren Maisy, Finnegan, Naomi, Peter, and Hunter Biden (the grandchild not son).

I will try to get a wheels up note out but if not, our ETA in Paris is 10:45 am local / 4:45 am ET.

Passing along additional departure details from the office of the First Lady:

This evening, First Lady Jill Biden will travel to Paris, France to lead the U.S. Presidential Delegation to the opening of the 2024 ParisOlympic Games. During the visit, the First Lady will attend the Opening Ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games and cheer on Team USA at various events.
The members of the U.S. Presidential Delegation and their guests traveling with the First Lady include:

  • U.S. Senator Alex Padilla
  • Angela Padilla, Spouse of U.S. Senator Alex Padilla
  • Annie Coons, Spouse of U.S. Senator Chris Coons
  • Mayor Karen Bass, City of Los Angeles, California
  • Dawn Staley, Head Women's Basketball Coach, University of South Carolina, and three-time Olympic gold medalist, Women's Basketball
  • Brian Boitano, Three-time Olympian and Olympic gold medalist, Figure Skating

Background on First Lady Jill Biden's Previous Olympic Attendance
The First Lady previously led the U.S. delegation to the opening of the Tokyo 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics Games, which were held in the summer of 2021 due to COVID-19.

During her time as Second Lady, Dr. Biden led the U.S. Presidential Delegation to the Opening Ceremony of the Special Olympics World Games in Athens, Greece, in 2011, and she accompanied then Vice President Biden who led the U.S. Presidential Delegation to the Opening Ceremony of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver, Canada.

Executive Foxtrot One is wheels up for Paris Orly at 10:00 pm. There were no visitors to the press cabin before departure.

ETA in Paris is approximately 10:45 am local / 4:45 am ET.

Adding correction to first pool report, Ashley Biden is not traveling with the First Lady on this trip. My apologies.

FLOTUS Pool - arriving in Paris

Executive Foxtrot One was wheels down at Paris Orly Airport in Orly, France, at 4:39 am ET/10:39 am local. An uneventful flight with no visitors to the press cabin, where CNN was on the TVs.

First Lady Jill Biden emerged from the plane at 11:01 am local / 5:01 am ET.

She wore a white Team USA Ralph Lauren bomber jacket over her purple suit and warmly greeted Amb. Denise Campbell Bauer, Amb. Sean Patrick Maloney, and Amb. Courtney O'Donnell.

Mayor Karen Bass, Dawn Staley, Annie Coons and other members of the delegation deplaned behind her.

The group posed for a photo as pool was moved to our motorcade van. Motorcade was rolling at 11:06 am local / 5:06 am ET.

An aide emerged carrying a garment bag embroidered with "FLOTUS" and a Ralph Lauren tote and other luggage shortly before she deplaned. Some of her grandchildren were spotted deplaning out the back exit - Naomi and Peter, Hunter, Finnegan.

Upon arrival to Paris Orly Airport in Orly, France, the First Lady will be greeted by:

  • Ambassador Denise Campbell Bauer, U.S. Ambassador to the French Republic and the Principality of Monaco
  • Ambassador Sean Patrick Maloney, U.S. Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)
  • Ambassador Courtney Diesel O'Donnell, U.S. Ambassador and Permanent Delegate to the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO)
