Haley Campaign Press Release - Haley to Hochul: Protect Your Citizens

May 17, 2023

DES MOINES, Iowa – Presidential candidate Nikki Haley responded to New York Governor Kathy Hochul's criticism of her, reminding Hochul that she is certainly allowed to declare her intent to pardon Daniel Penny should he be convicted. Haley also called on Gov. Hochul to remove District Attorney Alvin Bragg for not upholding the law.

Bragg is notorious for giving violent criminals a pass while he focuses on politically charged cases that endear him to the radical Left but do nothing to make New York City safer.

"Gov. Hochul has sat on the sidelines while liberal district attorneys like Alvin Bragg turn New York City into a war zone where innocent people are scared to take the subway and criminals get a free pass," Nikki Haley said. "Governors are supposed to protect their people. She can send a message to criminals by announcing her intent to pardon Daniel Penny. She can remove Alvin Bragg for endangering Manhattan residents. One thing is clear: doing nothing only continues the crime wave in New York."
