Haley Campaign Press Release - Nikki Haley Talks National Security in New Hampshire

June 28, 2023

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. – This afternoon, presidential candidate Nikki Haley joined former Department of State spokesperson Morgan Ortagus and Polaris National Security for a foreign policy town hall in Portsmouth, N.H.

Haley spoke about her plan to combat Communist China, stop the flow of fentanyl into America, build up our military, support our veterans, and have the backs of our allies. She took questions from the audience on a range of topics.

Haley on a President Kamala Harris...
"If we go and elect President Biden, that is a vote for President Kamala Harris all day long. We cannot have President Kamala Harris at the tip of the spear when it comes to dealing with our national security policy. She will not be able to handle it and I fear for what will happen."

The AP's Meg Kinnard: "Speaking w/ @MorganOrtagus in NH today, @NikkiHaley says that as POTUS she'd have long-range nat'l security plans, not measures subject to politics/White House turnover. 'Now, you have foreign leaders that wait presidents out,' she says. 'We look so distracted.'" (Twitter, 6/28/23)

The Hill's Julia Manchester: "@NikkiHaley kicks off her conversation with @MorganOrtagus noting the 'logistical nightmare' at the airports. 'Thanks, Mayor Pete,' she says, jabbing at the Transportation Secretary." (Twitter, 6/28/23)

NH Journal: "'Foreign policy has to be a central part of this [2024] election. It's just too important.' — @NikkiHaley at @polarisnatsec @nhgop #FITN" (Twitter, 6/28/23)

The Messenger's Stephanie Murray: "Nikki Haley calls China 'our absolute #1 security threat' to begin her Portsmouth, NH event. 'But don't look at it in fear,' she adds. 'Look at it as in okay, now we need to start moving.'" (Twitter, 6/28/23)

NH Journal: "At @polarisnatsec event, @NikkiHaley says ppl don't want to join military after watching how US treats veterans. Calls out suicide crisis and VA health. 'I will make sure we take care of our veterans.' NH has one of the highest per capita veterans populations in US." (Twitter, 6/28/23)

The Epoch Times' Jackson Richman: ".@NikkiHaley: Putin doesn't know whether to believe his military leaders. Putin is weakened. China doesn't want this to happen to them. Biden should give Ukraine whatever they need because 'we can finish this fast' but Biden's been slow. Talking is cheap, actions is better." (Twitter, 6/28/23)

NBC News' Ali Vitali: "'We need to go to China and say' 'we will end all normal trade relations with you until you do something to stop the flow of fentanyl,' HALEY proposes here in NH. 'Until they stop killing Americans, we can't keep trading with China.'" (Twitter, 6/28/23)

The Epoch Times' Jackson Richman: ".@NikkiHaley: End normal trade relations with China until they stop with the fentanyl. Universities will only be able to pick U.S. or Chinese money, not both. No more sending sensitive technologies to China. China has stolen $600 billion in U.S. intellectual property." (Twitter, 6/28/23)
