On Tuesday, February 6, Vice President Kamala Harris will travel to Savannah, GA to continue her nationwide "Fight for Reproductive Freedoms" tour. During the third stop of her tour, the Vice President will highlight how extremists in states like Georgia have enacted abortion bans that threaten women's health, force them to travel out of state to receive care, and criminalize doctors.
During her 11th visit to the state since being sworn in, the Vice President will highlight the harm caused by extreme abortion bans and share stories of those who have been impacted in Georgia and across the country. She will also hold extremists accountable for proposing a national abortion ban, call on Congress to restore the protections of Roe v. Wade, and urge attendees to use their voices and stay engaged in the fight for fundamental freedoms.
Georgia's six-week ban on abortion went into effect shortly after Roe v. Wade was overturned in June 2022. The state also criminalizes doctors who currently face up to 10 years in prison for providing care.
The Vice President's nationwide tour kicked off last week with a speech in Waukesha County, WI and continued on Monday with a moderated conversation in San Jose, CA. She is visiting states experiencing chaos and confusion after Roe v. Wade was overturned, states where women's reproductive freedom is being protected, and states with abortion bans that are threatening the lives and wellbeing of women. This tour is a continuation of the Vice President's leadership in the fight for reproductive rights. Since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, she has held more than 60 convenings in 20 states while bringing together hundreds of elected officials, health care providers, faith leaders, students, and advocates who are on the frontlines of the fight for reproductive freedom.
