Motor Carrier Ratemaking Study Commission Appointment of Four Members.

November 18, 1980

The President today announced the appointment of four persons as members of the Motor Carrier Ratemaking Study Commission. This Commission was created by the Motor Carrier Act of 1980 to examine the collective ratemaking process and determine whether antitrust immunity should be eliminated. The members appointed today are:

JAMES H. EDLER, of North Ridgeville, Ohio, corporate director of traffic for American Greetings Corp. and second vice president of the National Small Shipments Traffic Conference;

STEPHEN P. MURPHY, of Kansas City, Mo., senior vice president and general counsel of Yellow Freight System, Inc., and a member of the American Trucking Association;

MICHAEL C. THOMETZ, of Chicago, Ill., vice president and general manager of Badger Freightways, Inc.;

RICHARD WARREN, of Westfield, N.J., distribution operations manager of Lever Brothers Co. and chairman of the motor carrier reform task force of the National Association of Manufacturers.
