National Institute of Education Nomination of Four Members of the National Council on Educational Research.

July 10, 1980

The President today announced four persons whom he will nominate to be members of the National Council on Educational Research. They are:

MARIA B. CERDA, of Chicago, executive director and founder of the Latino Institute, who is active in numerous civic activities, including groups concerned with multicultural education.

JOSEPH J. DAVIES, JR., of Arabi, La., a member of the Louisiana State Board of Trustees for Colleges and Universities and chairman of its Academic Affairs Committee. He was superintendent of schools for St. Bernard Parish for 18 years.

TIMOTHY S. HEALY, S.J., president and professor of English at Georgetown University.

JOHN S. SHIPP, JR., of Marianna, Fla., director of administration of the Florida State Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, and a former associate State commissioner of education for administration.
