The President today announced his intention to nominate James Buchanan Busey IV, of Illinois, to be Deputy Secretary of Transportation. He would succeed Elaine L. Chao.
Since 1989, Admiral Busey has served as Administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration at the U.S. Department of Transportation in Washington, DC. Admiral Busey served in the U.S. Navy, 1952 - 1989. From 1987 to 1989, Admiral Busey served as commander in chief of the U.S. naval forces in Europe and commander in chief of the allied forces for the southern region.
Admiral Busey graduated from the Naval Postgraduate School (B.S. and M.S., 1964). He was born October 2, 1932, in Peoria, IL. Admiral Busey is married, has three children, and resides in Fairfax, VA.
