The President today announced his intention to nominate LeGree S. Daniels to be Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights, Department of Education. She would succeed Harry M. Singleton.
Since 1986 Mrs. Daniels has been deputy secretary of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Previously, she was commissioner of elections in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, April-October 1986; appointed to the Pennsylvania Tax Equalization Board, 1981-1986; with the member services division, domestic travel department, AAA Central Pennsylvania Auto Club, 1976-1982; and staff assistant, Harrisburg office of U.S. Senator Hugh Scott, 1974-1976.
She attended Temple University and Lincoln Business College of Philadelphia. Mrs. Daniels is married and resides in Harrisburg, PA. She was born February 29, 1920, in Denmark, SC.
