Nomination of Thomas C. Dawson II To Be United States Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund

The President today announced his intention to nominate Thomas C. Dawson II to be United States Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund for a term of 2 years. He would succeed Charles H. Dallara.

Since 1987 Mr. Dawson has been executive vice president of Regdon Associates in Alexandria, VA. Prior to that he was Deputy Assistant to the President and Executive Assistant to the Chief of Staff at the White House, 1985 - 1987. Mr. Dawson was Assistant Secretary for Business and Consumer Affairs at the Department of the Treasury, 1984 - 1985, and Deputy Assistant Secretary for Developing Nations at the Department of the Treasury, 1981 - 1984. He was an associate at McKinsey and Co. in Washington, DC, 1978 - 1981, and served in the Foreign Service of the United States, 1971 - 1976.

Mr. Dawson graduated from Stanford University (A.B., 1970) and Stanford Graduate School of Business (M.B.A., 1978). Mr. Dawson is married, has three children, and currently resides in Washington, DC.
