White House

The White House passes this along:

From White House Spokesperson Jeremy Edwards:

The President and his team are tracking Tropical Storm Ernesto, which passed the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico overnight and is now 125 miles north of Puerto Rico, and is forecast to strengthen to a hurricane today. Biden-Harris Administration officials are in touch with their territory and local counterparts in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Last night, the President approved the Governor of Puerto Rico's emergency declaration request, unlocking additional federal assistance. A FEMA distribution center located in Caguas, Puerto Rico is stocked with resources and ready to mobilize the resources as needed, and additional supplies are pre-staged on the U.S. Virgin Islands. Additionally, an Urban Search and Rescue Team and a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Temporary Power Team are deployed to Puerto Rico to provide further support as requested. The President urges residents to remain vigilant and heed the warnings of local officials.

Indian Treaty Room

Eisenhower Executive Office Building

As he entered the Indian Treaty room in the White House Complex to address about 100 digital creators, he first paused to take a selfie with the crowd.

Biden started by talking about how his grandchildren were not consuming the news by reading newspapers or watching television anymore.

"The fact is, you are the future," he said. "You're the source of the news."

He talked about how more people wanted to go into the creator business these days.

"What do you think when I retire? What do you think?," he said, to raucous laughter. "I got contacts, man."

Biden talked about how his staff had informed him that creator economy was now worth $250 billion, how it is expected double in the next few years.

"I'd like to talk about borrowing some money from you all," he said.

The creators are also changing the idea of what's consequential.

"You all understand that you have an obligation to report what you think is true and say what you think is true," he said. "We've kind of divided into our competing camps. Now, I know I only look like I'm 40 but I've been around a long time, and it's never been this. I mean, the way we treat each other in politics."

"I think you're gonna change the entire dynamic of the way in which we communicate. And that's why I invited you to the White House, because I'm looking for a job," he said to loud laughter.

Biden went on talk about high dr8g prices and how he had brought down the cost of insulin and other drugs and how the national press and are "good people."

"They're not that crazy about me, but I like them," he said.

At the end of the meeting, when a member of the press pool attempted ask a question about the U.S. recognizing Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro's opponent, Biden said he was not going to answer it.

The pool was quickly ushered out.
