Two minute warning for the briefing called at 12:08 pm

In-town pool report #2 -- briefing over

Briefing got underway at 12:11 p.m., with National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan making his remarks starting at 12:14 p.m. and then taking questions.

Sullivan finished up at 12:48 p.m. The briefing itself concluded at 1:13 p.m.

From the White House:

The President has been briefed on the shooting in Kansas City and will continue to receive updates. White House officials have been in touch with state and local leaders, and federal law enforcement is on the scene supporting local law enforcement.

In-town pool report #6

The president and first lady emerged from the West Wing at 6:08 pm briefly and walked to view the Valentine's Day decorations on the north lawn near Pebble Beach.

The print pool was held back as POTUS and FLOTUS approached the decorations though he responded to questions from the TV pool positioned on the opposite side.

On the way back into the White House, POTUS was asked about what he was giving up for Lent, to which he responded "you guys "

In addition to wishing reporters a Happy Valentine's Day, the president said in response to a question about his reaction to the shooting in Kansas City:

"We're getting more information ... about the shooting. I don't have it all. I'll have it later tonight."
