In-town pool report #3

The White House sends these two statements:

President Biden spoke by phone with His Holiness Pope Francis this morning and expressed his deep regret that he was unable to visit Rome and Vatican City. The President also presented Pope Francis with the Presidential Medal of Freedom with Distinction, the highest civilian award granted by the President and the only time the President has done so during his term. They also discussed efforts to advance peace around the world, including Pope Francis' work to alleviate suffering for vulnerable communities.

----

Today, President Biden spoke by phone separately with Los Angeles County Supervisor Lindsey Horvath and Ventura County Supervisor Kelly Long to discuss the latest updates on the wildfires across Los Angeles.

President Biden continues to be briefed by his senior staff on the efforts to suppress the wildfires across Los Angeles, how federal resources are supporting the state and local response, and how his Administration can further support impacted survivors and communities.
