Out of town pool #1 - Pool gathered in Rehoboth

Happy Monday from a sunny and somewhat windy Rehoboth.

The pool is gathered under a picnic shelter at Gordon's Pond, ready to capture the president's departure which is scheduled for 11:10 am.

Out of town pool #2 - Updated briefing time and Sullivan joining

Sharing this from the WH

Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre will be joined by National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan for the press briefing today.

The press briefing will now take place at 2:15 PM.

Out of town pool #3 - Leaving Rehoboth

The president's SUV pulled up at Gordons Pond at 11:14 am.

POTUS, wearing a dark suit, walked to the helicopter and boarded at 11:16 am.

The pool was positioned too far away to shout questions.

The helicopter lifted at 11:20 am.

I am now handing off to the in-town pool.

In-town pool #1 - Landing at Ft. McNair and departure for White House

The presidential helicopter landed at Ft. McNair at 12:11 pm. The president disembarked at 12:14 pm and shook hands with members of the military who greeted the helicopter. He did not speak to the media. He entered his limo at 12:15 and the motorcade left Ft. McNair at 12:17 pm

In-town pool #2 - arrival at White House

The presidential motorcade arrived at the White House at 12:26 pm after passing many excited tourists near the Washington Monument. The president left his limo and entered the White House at 12:28 pm. He was too far from the media for questions to be asked.

Around 300 people are milling around. Wait staff is carrying plates of appetizers and glasses of wine and other beverages. The orchestra is playing pop songs including Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'." At 4:58, we were told it will be 2 minutes before the remarks start.

The president and vice president entered at 5 pm. VP Harris began her remarks within a minute. The crowd moved towards the front. Many seem to be recording on cellphones.

Harris' remarks ended at 5:06 pm. She introduced actress Lucy Liu. Liu spoke until 5:10 and introduced Biden, who started immediately.
