In-town pool report #1: Lid until 1:45 PM

White House press office says there's a lunch lid until 1:45 PM.

In-town pool report #2: Jean-Pierre & Kirby briefing is starting

Press briefing with Karine Jean-Pierre and NSC Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby started at 2:02 PM. They did not provide an official 2 minute warning. Briefing is livestreamed on the White House website.

In-town pool report #3: Jean-Pierre, Kirby press briefing ends

Press briefing ended at 3:07 PM. White House press office sent a 2-minute notice email to the pool before the briefing started, but it did not arrive in pooler's email until after the briefing started and pool report #2 was sent. Pooler did not hear the 2-minute warning announcement before the briefing, but others said they heard it.

In-town pool report #4: President leaves for "The Showroom"

Presidential motorcade left the White House at 4:51.

Biden is going to "The Showroom" to tour demonstrations at "American Possibilities: A White House Demo." Pool did not see him enter his vehicle.

In-town pool report #5: Arrival at The Showroom

Motorcade arrived at The Showroom at 4:55. Not yet seen Biden, but there are a lot of scientific exhibits

Biden entered The Showroom at 5 pm. He is examining a window that says "gradient" on it, and speaking with exhibitors out of the pool's earshot. Another exhibit shows underwater sea creatures. Another is on heat pumps and another is on prosthetic arms.

President Biden engaged in a long discussion with a National Marine Sanctuaries exhibitor in front of a TV screen that showed underwater sea creatures. Pool was ushered out of the room at 5:14 pm. Pool sent out 2 reports that were numbered 5. The second one should have been 6.

In-house pool report #8: Biden answer to Netanyahu question

Biden answered a question from the radio pooler while he was at the event. She was told that Biden asked Netanyahu for a pause during their phone call on Monday. Biden did not say what the response was from Netanyahu. We are still holding in a van outside The Showroom.

President Biden will tour demonstrations at American Possibilities: A White House Demo Day. Demo Day will showcase President Biden's leadership and support for federal research and development (R&D) and the real-world impact of prior federal R&D investments. Federal R&D is funded through dozens of departments and agencies and performed by universities, companies, and government laboratories. This work is opening new avenues to achieve our great aspirations for the climate, for health outcomes, and for opportunity across every part of America.

Demo Day will bring together science and technology leaders in government, industry, and academia. Participants will explore a showroom with more than 40 innovations that will help Americans live better lives and build our future together, all made possible by federal investment. Under President Biden's leadership, the federal government is investing over $200 billion in R&D this year, the largest dollar amount for federal R&D ever.

BACKGROUND ON DEMOS

Prosthetic arm innovations – He will meet with an individual who is able to control his prosthetic arm with his thoughts through the power of neurotechnology. This technology started at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) under the Obama-Biden Administration's Brain Initiative. In December 2021, the President signed the ACT for ALS, patient community-driven legislation that invests in future treatments and cures and provides access to therapies for people living with ALS.

• Explore the Pacific Remote Islands – This exhibit will demonstrate how the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is working to advance our understanding of the connections between our ocean and the health of our planet.

• Home of the Future: Heat Pump – He will explore "home of the future" technologies that will help lower energy costs for homeowners and renters across the country, while helping to combat climate change. Rebates under the Inflation Reduction Act make it possible for Americans at all income levels to install clean-energy products like these and lower their energy costs.
