Out of town pool report #3 — in Rose Garden Pool was let back into the Rose Garden at 11:12 and we are all crammed in behind the riser. Lectern and prompter set up in the usual spot. There six rows of chairs set up in front of us all for staff. Just had a final mic check but no two-minute warning given yet. |

Out of town pool report #5 - remarks POTUS emerged from the Oval Office door at 11:24 in aviators and a navy suit, as the staffers seated stood quickly and gave him a long ovation. Remarks were carried live but a quick overview: He spoke about the need for an orderly and peaceful transition. He said Harris ran an "inspiring" campaign and "gave her whole heart and effort." He said he accepts the result and that the election was fair and transparent. "I've said many times: you can't love your country only when you win." He said he'll honor his oath: "On January 20, we'll have a peaceful transfer of power." He told staffers to be proud of the work they've done. "It's truly history," he said. "We're leaving behind the strongest economy in the world." "Setbacks are unavoidable but giving up is unforgivable," he said. "We're going to be okay, but we need to stay engaged. We need to keep going. And above all, we need to keep the faith." He wrapped at 11:30 to another standing ovation that drowned out some shouted questions. He stopped and waved and then walked back into the Oval at 11:31. |
