In town pool report #6 - Biden quotes

When President Biden was introduced, the crowd chanted, "Thank you Joe!"

He spoke for about 15 minutes.

"My name is Joe Biden and I'm Jill Biden's husband and Ashley Biden's dad."

In working in the Violence Against Women Act: "My goal was to do more than change the law, to change the culture of America and provide more support and protection for survivors and create accountability for perpetrators."

"It saves lives."

"There's always more to do. Let me just say the first and best decision I made when I was a nominee in 2020 was selecting Kamala Harris as vice president."

He said that Harris, as a former prosecutor, stood up against sexual violence her entire career. Biden: "You can't say that about my predecessor." He described new steps is administration is taking to prevent violence against women.

"To any survivors struggling, I want you to know you're not alone."

"I also signed a historic presidential memorandum to find and punish individuals around the world who use rape and sexual violence as a weapon of war and terror. We continue to condemn Russia for it's widespread violent sexual assaults in Ukraine. We continue to condemn the terrorist group Hamas for its appalling, dispicable acts of rape, mutilation and sexual violence in Israel on October 7."

He talked about the overturning of Roe v. Wade.

Biden finished speaking at 6:27 pm. He walked over to the rope line to his right and began talking to people in the audience.
