President George W. Bush today announced his intention to nominate one individual to serve in his administration:

The President intends to nominate Barbara McConnell Barrett of Arizona, to be Secretary of the Air Force. Previously, Ms. Barrett served as President and CEO of the American Management Association and was a teaching Fellow at Harvard University's Institute of Politics. She was a member of the Defense Advisory Committee on Women in the Services (DACOWITS), an advisory group to then-Secretary of Defense Dick Cheney and then-Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Colin Powell. Earlier in her career she served as a partner for Evans, Kitchel & Jenckes, a Phoenix based law firm. Ms. Barrett's previous presidential appointments include Chairman of the United States Advisory Commission on Public Diplomacy, Deputy Administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration, and Vice Chairman of the Civil Aeronautics Board. She earned her bachelor's degree, her master's degree and her J.D. from Arizona State University.
