Press Release - Personnel Announcement

President George W. Bush today announced his intention to nominate three individuals and appoint three individuals to serve in his administration:

The President intends to nominate Dionel M. Aviles, of Maryland, to be Under Secretary of the Navy. He currently serves as Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Financial Management and Budget (Comptroller). Previously, he worked for the Committee on Armed Services in the U.S. House of Representatives. He earned his bachelor's degree from the U.S. Naval Academy and his master's degree from The George Washington University.

The President intends to nominate Thomas B. Robertson, of Virginia, to be Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Republic of Slovenia. A career member of the Senior Foreign Service, Mr. Robertson currently serves as a career development officer at the Department of State. Previously, he served as Director for Russian Affairs at the National Security Council. Mr. Robertson earned his bachelor's degree from Princeton University and his master's degree from Johns Hopkins University.

The President intends to nominate Enrique J. Sosa, of Florida, to be a Member of the Reform Board (Amtrak) for a five-year term.

The President intends to appoint the following individuals to be Members of the Architectural and Transportation Barriers Compliance Access Board for the remainder of a four-year term expiring December 3, 2007:

Pamela Dorwarth of Florida

Denis Pratt of Maine

Gary Leonard Talbot of Michigan
