President George W. Bush today announced his intention to nominate two individuals to serve in his administration:
The President intends to nominate Jeffrey Clay Sell, of Texas, to be Deputy Secretary of Energy. Mr. Sell currently serves as Special Assistant to the President for Legislative Affairs. He previously served as Special Assistant to the President for Economic Policy. Prior to these appointments, Mr. Sell served as Staff Director and Republican Clerk for the Energy and Water Development Subcommittee. He earned his bachelor's degree from Texas Tech University and his J.D. from the University of Texas.
The President intends to nominate Patricia Lynn Scarlett, of California, to be Deputy Secretary of the Interior. Ms. Scarlett currently serves as Assistant Secretary of the Interior for Policy, Management and Budget. She previously served as President of the Reason Public Policy Institute, a nonprofit research and communications organization in Los Angeles, California. Ms. Scarlett earned her bachelor's degree and master's degree from the University of California at Santa Barbara.
