Press Release - Personnel Announcement

President George W. Bush announced his intention to nominate six individuals and designate one individual to serve in his Administration.

The President intends to nominate Allan I. Mendelowitz, of Connecticut, to be a Member of the Board of Directors of the Federal Housing Finance Board for the remainder of a seven-year term expiring 02/27/14. Dr. Mendelowitz currently serves as a Member of the Board of Directors of the Federal Housing Finance Board. Prior to this, he served as Executive Director of the U.S. Trade Deficit Review Commission. Earlier in his career, he served as Vice President of the Economic Strategy Institute. Dr. Mendelowitz received his bachelor's degree from Columbia University in the City of New York. He received his master's degree and PhD from Northwestern University.

The President intends to designate Paul A. Schneider, of Maryland, to be Acting Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security.

The President intends to nominate the following individuals to be Members of the Broadcasting Board of Governors:

Joaquin F. Blaya, of Florida, for the remainder of a three-year term expiring 08/13/08 and an additional term expiring 08/13/11;

Edward E. Kaufman, of Delaware, for the remainder of a three-year term expiring 08/13/09;

Susan M. McCue, of Virginia, for the remainder of a three-year term expiring 08/13/10;

Dennis M. Mulhaupt, of California, for the remainder of a three-year term expiring 08/13/08 and an additional three-year term expiring 08/13/11;

Steven J. Simmons, of Connecticut, for the remainder of a three-year term expiring 08/13/09.
