President George W. Bush today announced his intention to nominate five individuals, appoint two individuals, and designate one individual to serve in his Administration.
The President intends to nominate the following individuals to be Members of the Board of Directors of the United States Institute of Peace:
Kerry Kennedy, of New York, for the remainder of a four-year term expiring 01/19/11;
Ikram U. Khan, of Nevada, for the remainder of a four-year term expiring 01/19/09;
Stephen D. Krasner, of California, for the remainder of a four-year term expiring 01/19/11;
J. Robinson West, of the District of Columbia, for the remainder of a four-year term expiring 01/19/11;
Nancy M. Zirkin, of Maryland, for the remainder of a four-year term expiring 01/19/11.
The President intends to appoint Nancy Davenport, of Virginia, to be a Member of the National Historical Publications and Records Commission, for a four-year term beginning 12/27/07.
The President intends to appoint Fran Townsend, of New York, to be a Member of the President's Intelligence Advisory Board.
The President intends to designate Jeffrey F. Kupfer, of Maryland, to be Acting Deputy Secretary of Energy.
