President George W. Bush today announced his intention to nominate one individual to serve in his Administration.
The President intends to nominate Michael E. Leiter, of the District of Columbia, to be Director of the National Counterterrorism Center in the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. Mr. Leiter currently serves as Acting Director and Principal Deputy Director of the National Counterterrorism Center. Prior to this, he served as Deputy Chief of Staff in the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. Earlier in his career, he served as Deputy General Counsel and Assistant Director of the President's Commission on the Intelligence Capabilities of the United States Regarding Weapons of Mass Destruction. Mr. Leiter received his bachelor's degree from Columbia University and his JD from Harvard Law School.
