Press Release - Personnel Announcement

President George W. Bush today nominated two individuals and intends to designate one individual to serve in his Administration.

The President nominated Thomas A. Betro, of Virginia, to be Inspector General at the Department of State. Mr. Betro currently serves as Director of the Naval Criminal Investigative Service. Prior to this, he served as Deputy Director for Operations at the Naval Criminal Investigative Service. Earlier in his career, he served as Assistant Director for Counterintelligence at the Naval Criminal Investigative Service. Mr. Betro received his bachelor's degree from Colby College and his master's degree from the Naval War College.

The President nominated Brian H. Hook, of Iowa, to be Assistant Secretary of State (International Organization Affairs) and intends to designate him acting. Mr. Hook currently serves as Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Bureau of International Organizational Affairs. Prior to this, he served as Counselor to the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. Earlier in his career, he served as Special Assistant to the President for Policy, Office of the Chief of Staff, at the White House. Mr. Hook received his bachelor's degree from the University of St. Thomas, his master's degree from Boston College and his JD from the University of Iowa.
