President George W. Bush today announced his intention to nominate two individuals, his intention to appoint three individuals and his intention to designate one individual to serve in his administration.
The President intends to nominate Congressman Steven Joseph Chabot to be Representative of the United States of America to the 56th Session of the United Nations General Assembly. Chabot has represented the First District of Ohio since 1994, and serves on the International Relations, Judiciary and Small Business Committees. Before being elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, he practiced law in Cincinnati, Ohio, and was a teacher at Saint Joseph School. Chabot is an Ohio native and graduate of the College of William and Mary and Northern Kentucky University Law School.
The President intends to nominate Delegate Eni F. H. Faleomavaega to be Representative of the United States of America to the 56th Session of the United Nations General Assembly. Faleomavaega is serving his seventh term as Representative of America Samoa in the U.S. Congress. Before being elected to Congress, he was Lieutenant Governor of America Samoa and Deputy Attorney General of America Samoa. A Vietnam Veteran, he is a graduate of Brigham Young University and the University of Houston Law School, and he received a Master's degree in law from the University of California at Berkeley.
The President intends to appoint the following individuals as Members of the White House Commission on Excellence in Special Education:
Stephen Hammerman of New York Floyd H. Flake of New York William Harry Berdine of Kentucky
The President intends to designate Daniel R. Mulville to be Acting Administrator of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. Mulville has served at NASA since 1986, and is presently the Associate Deputy Administrator.
