Press Release - President Donald J. Trump Announces Intent to Nominate and Appoint Individuals to Key Administration Posts

Today, President Donald J. Trump announced his intent to nominate the following individual to a key position in his Administration:

James Broward Story, of South Carolina, to be Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

James Broward Story, a career member of the Senior Foreign Service, class of Counselor, currently serves as the Charge d'Affaires ad interim of the Venezuela Affairs Unit based at the United States Embassy in Bogota, Colombia. Previously, he was the Charge d'Affaires ad interim at the United States Embassy in Caracas.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Story was the Consul General of the United States Consulate General in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and Director of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement for the Western Hemisphere and Colombia. Mr. Story was also the Senior Civilian for Task Force Rakkasan in Regional Command East Afghanistan and held various positions at United States Embassies and Consulates in Brazil, Mozambique, and Mexico.

Mr. Story received his B.A. and B.Sc. degrees from South Carolina College at the University of South Carolina, and his M.S. in Foreign Service from Georgetown University. He is the recipient of multiple State Department awards including the Warren Christopher Award for Outstanding Achievement in Global Affairs and the Department of the Army Superior Civilian Service Award. He speaks Spanish and Portuguese.

Today, President Donald J. Trump announced his appointment of the following individual to a key position in his Administration:

Jordan Karem, of Maryland, to be a Member of the Advisory Committee on the Arts of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
