Ward Brehm, Nominee for Member, Board of Directors of the African Development Foundation
Ward Brehm is the founder and chairman of The Brehm Group, Inc., an estate planning/life insurance consulting firm that works with family investment offices. Brehm was appointed chairman of the United States African Development Foundation (USADF) in 2004 by President Bush, and he served in that role until 2008. Brehm recently helped found Equal World Coffee, an enterprise that imports Rwandan specialty coffee and pays the farmer coops top prices, while marketing the coffee through American non-profit organizations that retain all the retail profits as a way to raise funds for their specific causes. Brehm also initiated the Windpump Project in the early 1990s that brought clean water to remote areas in Kenya. In 2008, Brehm was awarded the Presidential Citizenship Medal for his work in Africa. He is also the author of two books on his experiences in Africa, Life Through A Different Lens and White Man Walking.
