Dr. Dave Ashok Chokshi, Appointee for Member, Advisory Group on Prevention, Health Promotion, and Integrative and Public Health
Dr. Dave Ashok Chokshi is the Chief Population Health Officer of OneCity Health and Senior Assistant Vice President at New York City Health + Hospitals – the largest municipal health care system in the U.S. He practices primary care at Bellevue Hospital and is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Population Health and Medicine at the NYU School of Medicine. In 2012, he served as a White House Fellow at the Department of Veterans Affairs, where he was the principal health advisor in the Office of the Secretary. His prior work experience spans the public, private, and nonprofit sectors, including positions with the New York City and State Departments of Health, the Louisiana Department of Health, a startup clinical software company, and a global health nonprofit dedicated to improving access to medicines in developing countries. Dr. Chokshi has written on medicine and public health in The New England Journal of Medicine, Journal of the American Medical Association, The Lancet, Health Affairs, and Science. He serves on the Board of Advisors for the Parkland Health & Hospital System and was elected a Fellow of the American College of Physicians this year. Dr. Chokshi received a B.A. from Duke University, an M.Sc. from Oxford University, and an M.D. from University of Pennsylvania.
Roel C. Campos, Designee for Member, Board of Visitors to the United States Air Force Academy
Roel C. Campos is a Partner and Chair of the Securities Enforcement Practice at Hughes Hubbard & Reed LLP, a position he has held since the beginning of 2016. Mr. Campos was a Partner at Locke Lord LLP from 2011 to 2016 and Cooley LLP from 2007 to 2011. Prior to this position, he served as a Commissioner for the United States Securities and Exchange Commission from 2002 to 2007. Mr. Campos was co-owner of El Dorado Communications from 1990 to 2002. Prior to that, he served as a federal prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney's Office in Los Angeles from 1985 to 1990. Mr. Campos was an attorney in private practice from 1979 to 1985. Prior to his legal career, he served as an officer in the United States Air Force from 1971 to 1976. Mr. Campos received a B.S. from the United States Air Force Academy, an M.B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles, and a J.D. from Harvard Law School.
Linda Garcia Cubero, Designee for Member, Board of Visitors to the United States Air Force Academy
Linda Garcia Cubero is a Warriors to Work Specialist at the Wounded Warrior Project, a position she has held since 2014. Ms. Cubero was a Consultant at Bradley-Morris from 2012 to 2014. From 2007 to 2011, Ms. Cubero was the President and Owner of Falcon Cash Investors LLC, and from 2003 to 2006, she worked at Hewlett-Packard as an IT Client Director. Prior to her career in information technology, Ms. Cubero served in the U.S. Air Force for seven years, separating with the rank of Captain in 1987. Ms. Cubero received a B.S. from the U.S. Air Force Academy and an M.S. from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
B. Alvin Drew, Designee for Member, Board of Visitors to the United States Air Force Academy
B. Alvin Drew serves as the Department of Defense Liaison at NASA, a position he has held since July 2016. Prior to this position, Mr. Drew was Assistant Director for Space and Aviation Security at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy from 2015 to 2016. He was Liaison Officer for Defense Department Space Agencies at NASA from 2013 to 2015 and Project Manager of the Deep Space Habitat Project from 2011 to 2013. While at NASA, Mr. Drew also served as a NASA Astronaut Mission Specialist from 2000 to 2011, flying on two missions with Space Shuttles Discovery and Endeavour. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1984, serving as a Combat Rescue Pilot, and retired as a Colonel in 2010. Mr. Drew received two B.S. degrees from the United States Air Force Academy, an M.S. from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and an M.S. from the United States Air Force Air University.
Lieutenant General Judith Ann Fedder (Ret.), Designee for Member, Board of Visitors to the United States Air Force Academy
Lieutenant General Judith Ann Fedder (Ret.) is Director of Global Sales & Marketing, Integrated Logistics at Boeing, a position she has held since 2015. Lt. Gen. Fedder retired from the U.S. Air Force after 35 years of service in 2015, most recently serving as Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics, Installations and Mission Support from 2011 to 2015 and as Director of Logistics for the Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics from 2010 to 2011. Lt. Gen. Fedder received a B.S. from Michigan State University and an M.B.A. from the Florida Institute of Technology.
General Edward Rice, Jr., Designee for Member, Board of Visitors to the United States Air Force Academy
General Edward Rice, Jr. is the owner of Ed Rice Consulting, a position he has held since 2013. General Rice retired from the U.S. Air Force after 35 years of service in 2013. His most recent military service was as Commander of Air Education and Training Command from 2010 to 2013 and as Commander of U.S. Forces Japan and 5th Air Force from 2008 to 2010. General Rice received a B.S. from the United States Air Force Academy, an M.A. from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and an M.A. from the Naval War College.
Frederick H. Black, Sr., Designee for Member, Board of Visitors to the United States Military Academy
Frederick H. Black, Sr. is a retired management consultant, last employed at Black Star Strategies from 2007 to 2016. Mr. Black previously served in the U.S. Armed Forces, joining the U.S. Army in 1968 and retiring as a Colonel in 1994. Prior to his retirement, he served as a Permanent Associate Professor of Political Science at the U.S. Military Academy. He has also served as a professor at John Jay College and the National War College. Mr. Black received a B.A. from Howard University and an M.P.A. from Syracuse University.
Jane Holl Lute, Designee for Member, Board of Visitors to the United States Military Academy
Jane Holl Lute is the United Nations Special Coordinator on improving the UN response to sexual exploitation and abuse, a position she has held since March 2016. Since 2014, Ms. Lute has also served as the Special Adviser to the United Nations Secretary-General for Relocation of Camp Hurriya Residents Outside of Iraq. Prior to these positions, she was the CEO of the Center for Internet Security from 2015 to 2016 and the President and CEO of the Council on CyberSecurity from 2013 to 2015; she now continues to serve on the Board of Directors for the Center for Internet Security. From 2009 to 2013, Ms. Lute was the Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security. She served in the United Nations from 2003 to 2009, including as Assistant Secretary-General for Peacebuilding Support from 2008 to 2009, Acting Under Secretary-General for Field Support from 2007 to 2008, and Assistant Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations from 2003 to 2007. Previously, Ms. Lute was Executive Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer of the United Nations Foundation and the Better World Fund from 2000 to 2003, and served on the National Security Council staff from 1991 to 1994. She retired from the United States Army with the rank of Major. Ms. Lute received a B.A. from Montclair State University, an M.S. from the University of Southern California, a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, and an A.M. and Ph.D. from Stanford University.
Elizabeth Young McNally, Designee for Member, Board of Visitors to the United States Military Academy
Elizabeth Young McNally is a Partner at McKinsey & Co., where she has been a member of the Financial Services and Organization practices since 2008. Ms. McNally was first appointed to the Board of Visitors to the United States Military Academy in 2011. From 2000 to 2008, she served on active duty in the U.S. Army in a number of positions, including Speechwriter for the Commander of the Multi-National Force in Iraq and Company Commander of the 39th Military Police Detachment at Fort Shafter, Hawaii. For her service, she received two Army Bronze Star Medals and the Meritorious Service Medal. A Rhodes Scholar and Truman Scholar, Ms. McNally received a B.S. from the U.S. Military Academy and an M.Phil. from the University of Oxford.
Dr. Mostafa A. El-Sayed, Appointee for Member, President's Committee on the National Medal of Science
Dr. Mostafa A. El-Sayed is Regents' Professor and Julius Brown Chair at the Georgia Institute of Technology, positions he has held since 2000 and 1994, respectively. Dr. El-Sayed is the Director of the Laser Dynamics Lab at the Georgia Institute of Technology, a position he has held since 1996. He was the Editor-In-Chief of the Journal of Physical Chemistry from 1980 to 2004. Dr. El-Sayed was a Professor at the University of California, Los Angeles from 1961 to 1994. He is a member of the National Academy of Science and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the American Physical Society, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and the American Chemical Society. Dr. El-Sayed received the Medal of the Egyptian Republic in 2009 and the National Medal of Science in 2007. He was first appointed to the President's Committee on the National Medal of Science in 2014. Dr. El-Sayed received a B.Sc. from Ain Shams University and a Ph.D. from Florida State University.
Dr. Pedro A. Sanchez, Appointee for Member, President's Committee on the National Medal of Science
Dr. Pedro A. Sanchez is Research Professor of Tropical Soils and on the Core Faculty for the Institute for Sustainable Food Systems at the University of Florida, positions he has held since 2016. Dr. Sanchez was Director of the Agriculture and Food Security Center at The Earth Institute at Columbia University, where he worked from 2003 to 2016. He served as Director of the Millennium Villages Project from 2004 to 2010, and Co-Chair of the United Nations Millennium Project Task Force on Hunger from 2002 to 2005. Dr. Sanchez was Visiting Professor of Tropical Resources at the University of California, Berkeley in 2002, Director General of the World Agroforestry Center in Nairobi, Kenya from 1991 to 2001, and Professor of Soil Science at North Carolina State University from 1972 to 1990. Dr. Sanchez is a member of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States and a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, American Society of Agronomy, Soil Science Society of America, and American Association for the Advancement of Science. He was awarded a MacArthur Foundation Fellowship in 2003 and the World Food Prize in 2002. Dr. Sanchez received a B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. from Cornell University.
Peter Altabef, Appointee for Member, President's National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee
Peter Altabef is President and CEO of the Unisys Corporation, a position he has held since 2015. Mr. Altabef served as President and CEO of MICROS Systems, Inc. from 2013 to 2014 and as President of Dell Services at Dell, Inc. from 2009 to 2011. He was the President and CEO of Perot Systems Corporation from 2004 to 2009 and served as Vice President, General Counsel, and Associate General Counsel from 1993 to 2004. He previously worked as a Partner and Associate at Hughes & Luce LLP from 1985 to 1993. Mr. Altabef received a B.A. from the State University of New York at Binghamton and a J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School.
John Donovan, Appointee for Member, President's National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee
John Donovan is Group President for AT&T Technology and Operations, a position he has held since 2012. Since 2015, Mr. Donovan has served concurrently as Chief Strategy Officer at AT&T. He was AT&T's Chief Technology Officer from 2008 to 2012. Prior to this, Mr. Donovan was the Executive Vice President of Product, Sales, Marketing, and Operations at Verisign Inc. from 2006 to 2008 and Chairman and CEO of the inCode Telecom Group from 2000 to 2006. From 1997 to 2000, he served as a Partner at Deloitte Consulting. Mr. Donovan received a B.S. from the University of Notre Dame and an M.B.A. from the University of Minnesota.
Steve Smith, Appointee for Member, President's National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee
Steve Smith is the CEO and President of Equinix Inc., a position he has held since 2007. Mr. Smith was the Senior Vice President of Hewlett-Packard Services from 2005 to 2006 and Vice President for Global Professional and Managed Services for Lucent Technologies from 2003 to 2005. He held various management and sales roles at Electronic Data Systems (EDS) Corporation from 1987 to 2003, including Chief Sales Officer and President of EDS Asia-Pacific. He previously served in the U.S. Army from 1979 to 1987. Mr. Smith received a B.S. from the U.S. Military Academy.
Jeffrey K. Storey, Appointee for Member, President's National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee
Jeffrey K. Storey is President and CEO of Level 3 Communications, Inc., a position he has held since 2013. Mr. Storey was the President and Chief Operations Officer of Level 3 Communications, Inc. from 2008 to 2013. From 2006 to 2008, he was the President of the Leucadia Telecommunications Group at the Leucadia National Corporation, and from 2002 to 2005, he served as President and CEO of WilTel Communications. Earlier in his career, Mr. Storey held senior executive positions at Cox Communications, where he was a founding member of Cox Business Services. He began his career in telecommunications in 1983 at Southwestern Bell Telephone. Mr. Storey received a B.S. from Northeastern State University and an M.S. from Southern Methodist University.
