President Obama also announced his intent to appoint the following individuals to key Administration posts:
• Nancy M. Schlichting – Chairperson, Commission on Care
• David W. Gorman – Member, Commission on Care
• Joyce M. Johnson – Member, Commission on Care

President Obama announced his intent to nominate the following individual to a key Administration post:
John Morton, Nominee for Executive Vice President, Overseas Private Investment Corporation
John Morton is the Chief of Staff of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), a position he has held since 2012. Previously, Mr. Morton served as Vice President for Investment Policy at OPIC from 2010 to 2012. Prior to OPIC, he worked at The Pew Charitable Trusts as Managing Director of the Pew Economic Policy Group from 2005 to 2010. Mr. Morton was Director of National Security Policy for John Kerry's Presidential Campaign in 2004. Prior to this, Mr. Morton served as an Investment Officer of Global Environmental Fund from 2002 to 2004. He worked as an Associate at Mercer Management Consulting from 1996 to 1999 and as a Project Assistant at The World Bank from 1994 to 1996. Mr. Morton received a B.A. from Harvard College, an M.A. from The John Hopkins University, and a M.B.A. from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Nancy M. Schlichting, Appointee for Chairperson, Commission on Care
Nancy M. Schlichting is CEO of the Henry Ford Health System, a position she has held since 2003. Prior to that, Ms. Schlichting served as its Executive Vice President and COO from 1999 to 2003 and as Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer from 1998 to 1999. She served concurrently as President and CEO of Henry Ford Hospital from 2001 to 2003. Ms. Schlichting has held a number of other hospital management roles, including Executive Vice President and COO of Summa Health System from 1997 to 1998, President of the Eastern Region of Catholic Health Initiatives from 1996 to 1997, and President and CEO of Riverside Methodist Hospitals from 1994 to 1996. She serves on the board of the Kresge Foundation, the Walgreen Co., the Detroit branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, and the Detroit Economic Club. Ms. Schlichting received an A.B. from Duke University and an M.B.A. from Cornell University.
David W. Gorman, Appointee for Member, Commission on Care
David W. Gorman served as Executive Director of the National Service and Legislative Headquarters of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) from 1995 to 2011. Prior to this, he served as Deputy National Legislative Director of DAV from 1994 to 1995 and as Assistant National Legislative Director for Medical Affairs from 1983 to 1994. In 1975, he was assigned to the DAV National Appeals Staff. Mr. Gorman became a professional National Service Officer in DAV's Boston office in 1971, rising to Supervisor of the Providence office the following year. Mr. Gorman joined the U.S. Army in 1969 and is a combat disabled veteran of the Vietnam War.
Dr. Joyce M. Johnson, Appointee for Member, Commission on Care
Dr. Joyce M. Johnson is a physician and consultant in private practice. She served as Vice President of Health Sciences and Chief Medical Officer for Battelle Memorial Institute from 2003 to 2013. Prior to this, Dr. Johnson served 23 years in the U.S. Public Health Service (USPHS), serving as Director of Health and Safety and Chief Medical Officer of the U.S. Coast Guard from 1997 to 2003. During her time in the USPHS, she served in senior management positions with the Food and Drug Administration and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. Dr. Johnson also held clinical positions at the National Institute of Mental Health and the Department of Veterans Affairs. She was an Epidemiologic Intelligence Officer and staff epidemiologist at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Dr. Johnson received a B.A. from Luther College, an M.A. from the University of Iowa, and a D.O. from Michigan State University.
