Press Release - President Obama Names Two to Serve as United States Attorneys

WASHINGTON – Today, President Obama nominated Mark F. Green and Joseph H. Hogsett to serve as United States Attorneys.

"Throughout their careers these individuals have demonstrated an unwavering to justice," said President Obama. "I am confident they will serve the people of Oklahoma and Indiana with distinction."

Mark F. Green: Nominee for United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Oklahoma

Mark Green is the sole practitioner at Mark Green, Attorney, which he opened in 1991. He has also served as an Alternate Judge to the City of Muskogee since 2006, and a Public Defender, when appointed, to the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma since 1990. From 1991 to 1994, Mr. Green was a part-time prosecutor for the Bureau of Indian Affairs in the Eastern District of Oklahoma. Prior to that, he was a Partner in Green & Green Attorneys from 1983 to 1991. From 1978 to 1982, Mr. Green served as Assistant United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Oklahoma. Following law school, he worked as an Assistant District Attorney for Muskogee County in Oklahoma in 1978. Mr. Green graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1975 and from the University of Oklahoma College of Law in 1978.

Joseph H. Hogsett: Nominee for United States Attorney for the Southern District of Indiana

Joseph Hogsett has been a Partner at Bingham McHale, formerly Bingham, Summers, Welsh and Spilman, since 2000. Prior to that, he had been counsel to that same firm from 1997 to 1999. From 1995 until 1997, Mr. Hogsett worked in the Governor's Office for the State of Indiana, first as a Senior Advisor in 1995 and then as Chief of Staff from 1995 to 1997. From 1998 to 1994, he worked in the State of Indiana Secretary of State's Office, first as a Deputy Secretary of State from 1988 to 1989, and then as the Secretary of State from 1989 to 1994. Previously, he had been the Campaign Manager for the Evan Bayh for Governor Committee from 1987 to 1988. Mr. Hogsett was a Deputy Secretary of State for the State of Indiana Secretary of State's Office in 1987 and an associate at Bingham, Summers, Welsh and Spilman from 1981 to 1987. Mr. Hogsett has earned five degrees: a B.A. in History and Political Science from Indiana University in 1978, an M.A. in History from Indiana University in 2007, a J.D. from Indiana University School of Law in 1981, an M.A. in English from Butler University in 1987, and an M.A. in Theological Studies from the Christian Theological Seminary in 1999.
