Following the Vice President's more than 60 trips to 20 states since the start of 2024, these Summer of Engagement events in LA, NV, TX, and IN include additional opportunities to speak directly with Black Americans, women, young leaders, and community leaders throughout the country
WASHINGTON – The White House announced today that Vice President Kamala Harris will continue her travel across the country in July as she participates in a series of events with key constituencies. The Vice President's speaking engagements in New Orleans, Las Vegas, Dallas, and Indianapolis will be a continuation of her intentional efforts to build coalitions while speaking directly with Black Americans, women, young leaders, and community leaders from throughout the nation. These Summer of Engagement events come on the heels of her more than 60 trips to 20 states since the start of 2024.
During each Summer of Engagement event, the Vice President will highlight how the Biden-Harris Administration has delivered historic investments that are supporting communities, advancing economic opportunity, and helping people thrive. Additionally, she will urge attendees to join her in fighting to protect fundamental freedoms – including the freedom for women to make decisions about their own bodies, the freedom to live safe from gun violence, the freedom to vote, the freedom to breathe clean air and drink clean water, and the freedom to learn America's full history. Leaders will also be encouraged to share what they hear with their own communities back home.
The Vice President will join thousands of Americans at the following July engagements:
A Moderated Conversation During the 30th ESSENCE Festival of Culture
July 6 in New Orleans, LA – the 21st state that the Vice President will visit this year
Media can RSVP here.
A Keynote Speech During the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.'s 71st Boulé
July 10 in Dallas, TX – the 22nd state that the Vice President will visit this year
Media can RSVP here.
A Moderated Conversation During the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.'s Grand Boulé
July 24 in Indianapolis, IN – the 24th state that the Vice President will visit this year
Media can RSVP here.
These events are a continuation of Vice President Harris' work to build diverse coalitions while ensuring that no community is overlooked or taken for granted. This includes nearly a dozen engagements with Divine Nine sororities and fraternities since taking office. The Vice President began 2024 with a speech in Myrtle Beach at the annual retreat of the Women's Missionary Society of the 7th Episcopal District of the AME Church, a voting rights roundtable with civil rights leaders in Atlanta, a speech in Columbia at the NAACP South Carolina State Conference's MLK Day event, a removing lead pipes announcement in Pittsburgh, an economic opportunity announcement at Black Wall Street in Durham, and a speech in Selma about the fight for fundamental freedoms.
In April, she also launched a nationwide Economic Opportunity Tour that has already taken her to Atlanta, Detroit, Milwaukee, and Charlotte for convenings that highlight how the Biden-Harris Administration has created a record number of jobs, invested in small businesses, increased access to capital, improved access to housing, removed lead pipes, taken on medical debt, invested $16 billion in HBCUs, forgiven an unprecedented amount of student loan debt, and championed additional policies that put money in people's pockets and build wealth. Vice President Harris recently carried this message to thousands at the SEIU Quadrennial Convention and the Constitutional Convention of UNITE HERE, the largest hospitality union.
Vice President Harris has also consistently led the Administration's efforts to mobilize tens of thousands of people in the fight for fundamental freedoms. Earlier this year, she launched a nationwide Fight for Reproductive Freedoms tour that took her to WI, GA, MI, AZ, MN, and CA. Most recently, she was in Tucson, Jacksonville, Philadelphia, College Park, and Phoenix for reproductive freedom events. Additionally, the Vice President just held a moderated conversation in Atlanta with Quavo that was focused on the freedom to live safe from gun violence. This followed other events on gun violence in Parkland, Las Vegas, and Charlotte.
