Readout of Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff's Meeting with Muslim and Jewish Community Leaders

Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff, along with Ambassador Rashad Hussain, met today with leaders of NewGround: A Muslim-Jewish Partnership for Change. The Second Gentleman and Ambassador Hussain highlighted the Biden-Harris Administration's work to address Antisemitism and Islamophobia in the United States and across the world and emphasized the importance of interfaith dialogue and solidarity in rooting out hate. The Second Gentleman and Ambassador Hussain listened to the personal stories and experiences of Muslim and Jewish community leaders, who shared the challenges they have faced in building and maintaining fragile coalitions, especially in the aftermath of October 7, 2023. The group also spoke about the work they are doing to confront stereotypes and combat misinformation. They thanked the leaders for their efforts to strengthen ties between communities and underscored the urgent need to embrace the humanity and equal dignity of all people.
